At age 2, she could swipe through picture albums and occasionally make accidental phone calls. (The picture-based directory makes it easy to select grandma.) At age 3, she's got her own apps to play with on the iPhone. And now mommy has to wait for her turn.

Kids on the Fly

Between terminals 2 and 3 at O'Hare is a nifty enclosed play area for kids. Highly recommended for travelers with children. I was alone as I connected through on my way back from my latest interview, so I didn't get to play on the big puffy plane.

This aquarium is in the middle of the handsome wood-paneled student lounge at a big student union in the middle of a Midwestern state. Yes, folks, I'm back on the job interview circuit.

Breakfast in Hell

Entering Hell's Kitchen, one has to pass the demonic cow's skull and tree of ravens to get to wild rice porridge and lemon-ricotta hotcakes. The peanut butter is so yummy, I'd tip Charon extra if he would just row faster.

Tales of Brilliant Branding. These are from Vermont. They want you to think "Vermont mints." However, cover up the last two letters in the name, and you can see why they aren't flying off the shelves.

Subterranean

I seem to spend a lot of time underground in the Metro tunnels. Sorry about the blur -- they actually keep the lights low there.

The starship lobby

You can't walk a block in Washington without tripping over the national headquarters of some association, law firm, or other lobbying group. I particularly like those that use the Starfleet font.

The man in the middle

Coming "home" to my hotel, I walk through George Washington Circle. The general himself is right there in the center.

Construction update

I know why you follow my blog. It's just to get the monthly update on the theater construction project in D.C. Here it is in February. Looks like another level or two has gone up.

Going clubbing

I have a membership in Northwest's WorldClubs. It's a nice place to relax while waiting for a flight. I'm on my way back to D.C. for another week on-site at my consulting gig.
