She wanted a lightsaber at Target. Naturally, I wanted one too. We patrolled the neighborhood searching for bad guys. She's not a Jedi Knight -- she's a Jedi Princess.

Mars attacks!
JPL has an open house every year at their HQ in Pasadena. (For those who are not space geeks, JPL is the place that makes probes for unmanned space missions.)
Ellen enjoyed having a Mars rover roll over her back.

Mother's Day
We took Rachel to a nice buffet brunch at a Cuban restaurant overlooking the San Gabriel Valley. Ellen liked the roaming musical trio.

Strolling professor
I did a walking tour of the bronze statue exhibition on campus. This is my favorite -- the "Strolling Professor." He's reading a chemistry textbook. It doesn't look at that engrossing.

Bigger than Ellen!
LA has good Jewish delis! Yay! This was not a strength of the Twin Cities. Here at Brent's Deli, I have a bowl of soup with a matzoh ball as big as Ellen's head.
